Accompanying penned note:

"Presented to the Hartford Medical Society by Mrs. Robert A. Wadsworth in memory of her grandmother Mrs. David L. Calhoun, whose father, the original owner, was William Scott MD born in Brooklyn, CT, APril 26, 1807, graduated from Pittsfield Medical college and practiced in East Windsor about 1833 where he used this case. Died May 12, 1878 in North Manchester, Connecticut."
